Key Features

  • Processing

The Processing slider determines how much level can pass through the De-Esser before compression is triggered. Lower the processing until gain reduction starts to occur. Now listen as you adjust the processing. Find the point at which sibilance is controlled without extreme audible compression.

  • Waveform Display

The waveform display in T-De-Esser Pro Mk2 provides real-time visual feedback of the input signal, helping you monitor how the de-essing is applied across time. The red and gold overlay shows the difference between the raw input and processed signal, while the central bar indicates the current processing amount in decibels, updating dynamically. This visualisation allows you to fine-tune parameters like intensity, sharpness, and frequency range with more confidence, ensuring clean and transparent results.

  • Frequency Range

This feature allows you to choose your custom frequency range in high frequencies for a more accurate result. You can choose to select frequencies from 1kHz to 20kHz. T-De-Esser Pro focuses on this frequency range for finding and removing harsh sounds. The waveform display shows the input level that is coming from the selected frequency range.

  • Intensity

T-De-Esser Pro Mk2 "Intensity" determines how much gain reduction the De-Esser applies when the signal passes a threshold level. For example, an intensity of 4:1 means that for every 4dB the signal rises above the threshold, the De-Esser will allow an output of 1dB.

  • Sharpness

"Sharpness" refers to how the De-Esser transitions between the non compressed and compressed states of an audio signal running through it. A "lower sharpness" allows for a smoother and more gradual compression than a "higher sharpness."

  • Attack / Release

The attack setting controls how long it takes for the De-Esser to engage, while the release setting controls how long it takes to let go. "Attack" goes from 0.0 ms to 30.00 ms. And "Release" goes from 1.0 ms to 120.00 ms. A fast attack results in a softer sound, while a slower attack setting will make the sound punchier. If you go too fast with the attack, it may cause distortion, but if you have the "Lookahead" option turned on, it will help the attack to operate more accurately, resulting in a more natural sound.

  • Lookahead

The Lookahead function allows the De-Esser to "see" the input signal before it is processed, allowing it to handle transitory information better and make the attack smoother. Having "Lookahead" on will increase the latency so it's not ideal to be used while tracking/recording.

  • Oversampling

This is the Oversampling feature in T-De-Esser Pro Mk2 that helps you decrease aliasing by executing the internal process at a higher sample rate than the host, up to 16 times higher. (In other words, it will improve the quality of your audio.) As you increase the oversampling, the plug-in's CPU usage will also increase. It is not recommend to be used while tracking/recording.

  • Saturation

The saturation feature in T-De-Esser Pro Mk2 adds a unique colour and texture to the sound, helping the De-Esser in some cases to make a smoother sound. It can also create a new character for your sounds, specially when used with the other features like "mix" and "High-Cut".

  • Saturation Filter

This option allows you to add saturation only to the specific selected high-frequency range. It makes the high frequencies sound crisp without harshness and is a great tool for blending them into the context of a mix.

  • Make Up Gain (+auto-gain)

"Make Up" controls the amount of clean gain applied to the processed signal. To make level matching easier while you tweak the plug-in's settings, it offers the "AUTO" gain button which sets the "Make Up" gain amount.

  • High-Cut

It's a very gentle filter that may make some of the harsh frequencies fade away, resulting in a more pleasing sound when used in conjunction with the De-Esser. Also, it is a creative tool for changing the sound character and pushing the sounds deeper in the mix to create a sense of depth.

  • Mix

The "Mix" option controls the mix of the two input and output signals. This feature makes it perfect for parallel processing.

  • MS & LR Modes

The Mid/Side options in T-De-Esser Pro Mk2 let you process a stereo track's centre and side signals individually.

  • Stereo Link

This option balances the depth of processing between the left and right or mid and side channels, as determined by the stereo mode toggle.

  • Audition (Filter & Diff)

This feature allows you to quickly listen to the De-Esser filter's frequency range or just the effect of the plug-in on your signal.

  • Scalable User Interface

The interface scaling feature in T-De-Esser Pro Mk2 allows you to customise the size of the GUI to suit your preferences and optimise your workflow. With a range of scaling options available, from 50% to 150%, you can personalise the interface to match your visual and working style. One of the great things about this feature is that the visual quality of the plug-in remains consistent, regardless of the scale you choose.

  • Undo/Redo

The T-De-Esser Pro Mk2 plug-in comes equipped with the handy feature of built-in "Undo" and "Redo" options, providing added peace of mind while working on your audio processing. With these functions, you can easily revert to previous settings or redo changes, saving time and eliminating the stress of potentially losing valuable adjustments.

  • A/B Switch

The A/B buttons provide a convenient way to compare different options and find the optimal setting for your audio processing needs. With just a click, you can easily switch between two different versions of the same processing chain and compare the results. Moreover, the "Copy A to B" and "Copy B to A" functions enable you to quickly test small tweaks and adjustments by copying the settings from one version to the other and comparing their effects.

Love it when a company makes existing tools better and Techivation did just that with T-De-Esser Pro. It's the swiss knife of de-essers with all the added extra features. Not only does it sound smooth and natural, it's super flexible and easy to use. A must have in your mixing toolbox!!

The T-De-Esser Pro is a great-sounding plugin. All the features they packed into this thing make it a powerful tool even beyond de-essing! The team at Techivation nailed it.

I always avoided using de-essers as they felt like a compromise to the precision of manual clip-gaining and automation. However, the T-De-Esser Pro is the exception. It’s musical, undetectable, easy to use, and offers plenty of parameters for tweaking. Don’t get me started on the slick UI. That’s how all de-essers should look and perform.

The T-De-Esser Pro is an important tool for any studio/engineer/producer/or artist. They have added more detailed features, at the same time keeping it simple and intuitive to get the exact result you wish. It’s a great utilitarian tool and at the same time a super creative tool with so many possibilities. The ability to automate so many features is amazing! Techivation has a bright future ahead.

The T-De-Esser Pro has become one of my go to plugins! With an impressive ease of use and a very intuitive interface, I can get great results in a very short amount of time. Features as mid-side processing and saturation that help to remove the more harsh sounds really make the difference from any other De-Essers.

When I first tried the T-De-Esser, I loved how it sounded. Now they have added control of additional features, and it will put this in a league of its own. I especially love the new audition feature and the ability to control the attack. The saturation option is also very unique. I can see this being used a lot as an audiosuite plugin in Pro Tools. You should definitely try this plugin if you haven't already!

T-De-Esser Pro is easy to use yet comprehensive enough to dial in the best tone for the vocals. I love the grittier tone I can get out of this de-esser. If I push hard enough, it adds that extra flavor to the vocal besides doing what it is supposed to do. T-De-Esser Pro will be part of my desert island tool kit from now on!

T-De-Esser Pro is one of the best de esser plugins out there. The multiple frequency selection range helps to isolate the problem areas fast. Not only does it sound transparent but the saturation can be used creatively as well!.

The T-De-Esser Pro, is an incredible De-Esser.. but it’s also so much more, yet the GUI makes it so intuitive. It lets you audition, hone in on and correct troublesome areas, but it’s as equally an amazing tool for colouring or adding character to a track or instrument. It’s a multi-tool in my opinion.
